Although weather.com warned of low temperatures and high winds, we were blessed 2 Saturdays ago with a sunny day, perfect for Patuxent, the longest river located entirely in Maryland. The adventure started with a series of flat bridges, sparkling with morning dew turned to ice. We toed carefully into the woods and then ran the muddy trails, which felt forgiving when I fell. While most trees stood tall and bare, patches of greenery peaked through the bark, and in some places, the trail opened up to reveal stretches of river and plains of grass.
Perk of Patuxent: luxurious bathrooms, which are spacious, clean, and high tech (unlike any trails bathrooms I’ve ever seen).
